Midwives believe that birth is
a natural occurrence.
Midwives foster a laboring
woman's natural instincts as
she prepares to birth her baby.
A midwife is someone who provides care for a
woman before, during and after her pregnancy - but
being a midwife goes beyond just providing care.
A midwife is answering a calling.  This calling
leads her to prepare a family for the transition from
pregnancy to starting a new chapter in her family's
life with the birth of a baby.
A midwife is a foundation of information about
pregnancy, labor and birth.  Midwives encourage
the expecting mother to maintain a healthy way of
life in preparation for the birth of her baby.
Midwives believe in Family Centered Maternity Care.  This allows the
family to have individualized care for the mother as well as those who
want to actively participate.  This allows the family to bond with the baby
even before he or she arrives and provides the maximum experience for
all involved.
Tree of Life Midwifery Care - Lisa Black,CPM
Midwives thrive on the energy that pregnancy, labor and birth brings
out in a woman.  A midwife draws on this energy and helps the family
uphold this endurance when the going gets tough.
